How to Photograph Your Adventure at We-Ape

How to photograph your adventure

You have booked your We-Ape adventure, you’re ready to go – now let’s make sure your photos look as epic as your adventure will feel! Having amazing photos lets you relive your adventure, plus allows you to share it with friends and family. Who knows, you might even inspire someone else to unleash their wild!

Here are simple, pro-level tips to help you take incredible photos with just your smartphone and a bit of know-how.

1. Secure Your Phone the right way

Before starting your forest adventure, make sure your phone is properly secured.  Having your phone or camera properly secured is important for the safety of you, your phone, and even our staff. This also keeps your hands free and prevents accidents while moving across obstacles.

2. Prep Your Camera Before You Start the Course

Before you get zipping and climbing on our Family or Fitness Course, remember to prep your camera while you still have both feet on the ground!

Here are some tips for the best smartphone photography:

  • Clean your lens with a microfiber cloth
  • Switch your camera mode to:
    • Burst (for ziplines and other fast-moving obstacles)
    • Live (for action timing)
    • Video (for mid-zip screenshots)
  • Turn off notifications (to avoid interruptions in videos)
  • Adjust your photo brightness for the forest lighting

These outdoor smartphone photography tips will ensure the best results when photographing your adventure!

3. Use Natural Forest Light to Your Advantage

Forest photography naturally has some amazing lighting opportunities! The diffuse lighting through the leaves, the warm sunny glow, and the dappled sunlight all make for amazing photos!

Here are some lighting tips for taking amazing photos:

  • Shoot with the sun behind you
  • Avoid harsh overhead light
  • Use dappled light creatively
  • Slightly underexpose your photos to preserve highlights
  • Climb in the morning or during Sundown Sessions for the best warm glow

4. Capture the Action (without the blur)

You’re surrounded by thrilling zipline runs, net obstacles, and canopy walks. Don’t just take static pictures!

Here are some quick tips for sharp pictures on your zips!

  • Use burst mode for launch moments, mid-zip reactions, & platform landings
  • Focus on faces for emotion
  • Move your phone along with the moving zipliner
  • Frame wider than you think!

5. Try Creative Angles

Think beyond eye-level shots:

  • Shoot from below to make ziplines and obstacles feel even more dramatic.
  • Shoot from the side to show the epic height up in the trees.
  • Capture wide scenes to show the full forest environment.
  • Frame shots with trees or trail elements to add depth.

Different perspectives highlight the beauty of We-Ape’s obstacle courses and the thrill of being outdoors.

That’s it! With just these simple tips, you can take amazing photos while enjoying your We-Ape experience.

6. Tell the Full Story

Every visit has a beginning, middle, and end. Capture them all!

  • Before the adventure: harnessing up, safety briefing and first reactions.
  • During the adventure: ziplines, canopy walks, teamwork, laughter.
  • After the adventure: smiles, group photos, celebration moments.

These create a complete story of your day at the park and not just single snapshots.

7. Edit Your Best Shots (Lightly)

Strong camera settings and smart framing make the biggest difference, but editing can add that special sauce at the end. Here are some tips for some natural photo editing for outdoor photos on your smartphone:

  • Slightly increase contrast and warmth
  • Reduce highlights to preserve forest details
  • Avoid heavy filters
  • Crop only where it improves composition

Keep edits natural so the photos still feel like the real experience.

Final Tip: Safety First!

Bring your smartphone or camera and capture memories. Just make sure it’s safely secured while on the courses, so it doesn’t fall during activities.

We love to see you and your point of view of the adventure, so do well to tag us across all social media platforms when you post these epic photos and videos.

Until then, see you soon!
